pastry day

the other week in MUM land we had a big batch pastry day.
there were chicken sausage rolls, chinese pasties, nutella rolls and cheesy vege pockets to make and scoff and swap.
here are some of the mini MUMbakers in action trying their hand at pastry making.

an easy recipe from the day for pastry was this tried and true family favourite...
2 cups of flour approx-can be plain or wholemeal
5 big spoons of marg/butter
cold water
pinch of flavour-salt or paprika or chicken stock cube or basil or whatever goes with what you are cooking
smear butter/marg around the edge of your bowl
add flour cup by cup-mix in-between cups
add flavour
add water bit by bit until it is mixed nicely
knead until play dough texture
wrap in gladwrap and leave in fridge for at least an hour
take out and cut into 1/3's
sprinkle flour onto board and onto rolling pin
roll out to desired width
